Aliens in the United States without a valid visa or permission from the United States government are at risk of being detained by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Individuals Who Have Not Yet Been Placed in Deportation or Removal Proceedings

If an individual is detained by ICE and has never been placed in deportation or removal proceedings, the Individual will be issued a Notice to Appear (NTA) which places the person in Deportation or Removal Proceedings.

An ICE official will then determine whether the person is eligible for release on bond or an order of supervision.

Individuals With Final Orders of Deportation or Removal

If an individual is detained by ICE and is already subject to a final order of deportation or removal, that person has limited options and is in danger of imminent removal.
